Ruth McIver Author

Ruth Mary McIver is a Dublin-born, Melbourne-based crime writer who grew up in Perth, WA and the US. She is represented by Jacinta Di Mase.

Ruth is a final year PhD candidate and Early Career Researcher at Curtin University (2019), where she wrote I Shot the Devil, which was the winner of the Richell Prize (2018). Her first novel, Nothing Gold, was runner up in the inaugural Banjo Awards, with Harper Collins (2018) and was selected to be pitched at the Bloody Scotland Crime Fesitval  (2014).

Ruth’s novel-in-verse, The Sunset Club (2014), is a DIY publication that was adapted for the stage and highly commended in the Anne Elder category by the Fellowship of Australian writers. Ruth has written reviews, articles and interviews for The Sunday Age, The Big Issue and Cordite, and numerous other online and print forums and has been invited to write/ panel festivals and events such as Next Wave and RMIT’s Odyssey Literary Festival.

Ruth lives in Melbourne and is an emerging podcaster, freelance writer and musician. She also writes a poorly updated blog called Hissy Teddy. She loves coffee, animals, and 48 Hours Mystery.
